This week we finished both of our 1,000 word writing pieces and then we put our Dorothea Lange writing in an Adobe illustrator template to make the writing go around the photo and. We also started printing are negatives and started testing different emulsion techniques. Andrew discover that the photos show up better on the smooth side of the water color paper and that it also looks really cool on glass and I am already having a few ideas on different types of printing methods you could do that I want to do. Many exciting things are happening right now! ChemistryWe make emulsions by combining Sliver nitrate and sodium chloride and creating an ionic bond between them. An ionic bond happens when one chemical has an extra electron and anoth chemical has a missing one and so the other chemical take that election and then they become positive and negative they attract making the right chemical for processing papers. This also explains why we needed to work in dark room, which is that the energy is so high in lights beside red light that it brakes the bond making not work correctly. There are 4 steps into processing a photo, step one is developing which is adding election to fore. Step 2 is Step bath stops the developer by taking away the leftover elections. Step 3 is fixer dissolves remaining silver salt. The last step is to wash which is you put it in water and it washes away the residual chemical. Question #1: How exactly do you tell that something is getting to dark? Question #2: What's the right kind of light to expose the photo to? HumanitiesEmotional This photo shows the emotional connection to an art form. That he's so focused on making beautiful music in beautiful places. Even though he may be struggling all he wants to do in life is play music. The way he's sitting is hunched over his guitar and his head is completely focused on what chords he needs to play next. His fingernails are grown out so he can pluck the strings much easier. His devotion is very apparent and he's making the best of what he has. This reflects on most of the musical street performers and why they perform on the street, their making something out of what they have and they are practicing their craft, while showing it to whomever will stop and listen. They are part of the atmosphere at Boba Park. They add beautiful sound to an already beautiful place and also add another thing to look at. Balboa park is a place where so many diffrent things come together such as science, art, music, dance, weddings, athletes, culture, photoghers, Jr theater, haunted trails and so much more. Social Street performers are one of the most underappreciated people of the performing arts. They do a job where they don't have a constant flow of pay so it's a hit or miss everyday. Also it takes years to build up a reputation and to have people notice you. Even then some go unseen and they never become super famous or have a big audience. They also have to deal with people on the daily and you never really know who you are going to encounter on the street. Yeah sure you may encounter some of the some of the people you've seen already, but sadly there are all different types of people in the world with different opinions. Street performers even though they seem like they're in their own world, but they actually keep each other in check.. Because if on79e person is being not cool that reflects poorly on everyone else given the social stigma that they are all creeps or rude. Historical Street performances also known as “bucking”, dates all the way back to the 18th century. But it didn’t start picking up massive speed till the 60’s. Every culture has there own type of street performing. Mexico has mariachi bands where they play around the most popular streets. Japan has Chindon'ya which is japanese for marching band they dress up and march down streets mostly to advertise for diffrent things. Before musicians there were doctors who would go around and cure people, then sell their medicines. Street performers are not just limited to music. It can be circus tricks, live art, poetry, comedy and dancing. Some of the most well known names were street performers like Robin Williams, B.B King, Jewel, Bernie Mac even benjamin franklin was a street performer. San Diego is very well known for being a city with lots of street performers as well as, Seattle and San francisco. All three places have street performers everywhere and have big names come from. Personal I have lived in San Diego for almost 11 years now and I have gone to Balboa Park a lot. I have seen the same street performers over and over. I have these performers engraved in my mind. I remember even giving them high fives as a kid, or just standing there with my family on the weekends and feeling the sunburn on my face appearing. But I don't remember just street performers, I remember many things like going to taking theater classes at Junior theater, walking around the rose garden, making up different stories using our surroundings and our bodies during 8th grade. Going to haunted trails for the first time with people I had only known for a month during freshman year. Going to the dog park or running around the park with a dog I was babysitting the summer of 2016. I remember going to the titanic exhibition when it was the 100 year anniversary of the sinking and looking at all the relics found and touching a giant ice block. Going to a quinceañera photo shoot and carrying my friends big fluffy pink dress in 2 inch boots. I have a lot of good memories there. I can remember them so vividly because that place hasn't changed since I was 5 except for the fence around the big old tree and the japanese garden. But for the most part nothing has changed and I am hoping that I will be able to make more nice memories I feel that everyone needs that one place where they have good vibes from. Compositional At Balboa Park it was kinda gloomy, so I didn't have a lot of light to work with. I tried to fix that when I put it into photoshop and made it black and white. By giving a softer touch to his skin and making his clothes darker. I also cropped it so he is matching up with ther 2 points to the left in the rule of thirds. There is also a straight line into the back with grass and the sidewalk. The trees the in the back give another example of using straight lines and texture. Another example of a straight line is the wall he's sitting on which is made out of symmetrical columns gives another example of lines. This photo has a lot of hidden lines like his guitar is a line that kinda pops out at you. Theres also alot of curves like on his chair and even in the columns. Another thing is that it resembles the Dorothea Lange photo I picked. With him crouching over and looking down. Landscape Photography Plan I have too places I would like to take photos of. One is at Sunset Cliffs because I know the area well and there's this weird canyon thing covered in graffiti so I wanna go take some photos of that. Then there's this really weird abandoned house up on a hill somewhere around San Diego and I also want to capture some of that. I really want to capture something unique and cool, not just like a basic sunset or flower photo.
